The Brazilian Bee Studies Association – A.B.E.L.H.A. is a nonprofit civil association with no political or ideological connotation, aimed at leading the creation of a network for the conservation of bees and other pollinators.

Its main mission is collecting, producing and disseminating science-based information, and the collaboration of a network of partners, aimed at the conservation of bees and other pollinators in Brazil, promoting their role in biodiversity and the harmonious and sustainable coexistence with different agricultural crops.

Economist with a doctorate in Science and Technology Policy from UNICAMP. Ms. Assad coordinated the area of Biotechnology and Health of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) between 1991 and 1996 and from 2000 to July 2004.

General Coordinator of National Cooperation for CNPq Institutional Cooperation Board (2009 to February 2012), and head of Advisory Office of the MCTI Sectorial Funds, from August 2012 to May 2014.

She is a Lecturer at the Biotechnology Master and PhD course of the Federal University of Amazonas and licensed teacher of the Catholic University of Brasilia.

 

Ms. Assad has experience in the private sector in innovation management and research and innovation projects in areas such as biotechnology, biodiversity and of R&D project management. She participates in institutional assessment Commissions and Committees and projects related to biotechnology, use of biodiversity and innovation management.
